From Reykjavík, you will drive across the Mosfellsheidi Heath to beautiful Thingvellir National Park -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a primary site of Iceland's geological and historical heritage.
Walk through a massive geological fault to the place where Europe's oldest national legislative assembly, the Icelandic Althing, was established in AD 930. Astonishingly, it convened here in grandiose surroundings every summer for nearly eight centuries.
Your tour continues over the Lyngdalsheidi Heath into the fertile farmlands of the south for a visit to Iceland's most beautiful waterfall -- Gullfoss.
Nearby, you'll also stop at the Geysir Geothermal Area, with many hot springs. The most active geyser spouts every few minutes and is quite awesome in the old-fashioned sense of the word.
A two-course lunch and coffee are served at a restaurant nearby. Returning through the Grímsnes region, you will also pass Hveragerdi Village, where geothermal water has been used to build an extensive greenhouse industry.
Enjoy the panoramic drive back to Reykjavík via Hellisheidi Heath with a short stop at the Hellisheidi Power Plant.

Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Guests who prefer to stay on the coach may do so at most stops; however, all guests must leave the coach during the driver's break. Participants must be able to negotiate a few steps to (dis)embark the coach. Collapsible wheelchairs/scooters can be stored on the coach; full measurements of the wheelchair/scooter must be provided to the tour staff on board the ship at least 48 hours prior to arrival in Reykjavík. Most attractions are wheelchair/scooter accessible; however, accessible areas may offer a slightly different viewing angle. The lunch venue is wheelchair accessible. Parents traveling with children under the age of 3 must rent a child's car seat from the tour operator; please see the Shore Excursions team on board. You cannot use your child's car seat from home in Iceland.
